Auditionees should be prepared to take part in a group audition where they will practice a routine after a short warm-up. Any successful candidates will be invited to take part in the last session of Troupe in the year
The Dance Troupe will perform across the UK and further afield in a variety of competitions. We currently have competitions in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast in our sights however our ambitions stretch further afield.
This will be an intensive undertaking with a minimum of 2.5 hours a week of class time split over two days, with the expectation that the students practice in between. On a Wednesday the Troupe splits into Juniors and Seniors for two 90 minute sessions.
The troupe fee is £18 a week, and is subject to all the standard financial terms and conditions currently in place at ASDS. There will be significant other costs to consider such as travel, accommodation and costume hire (where appropriate) for competitions. These will of course be organised in the most cost effective way possible, but please consider that these will be payable for the student to compete.
The audition will take the form of a group workshop where students learn a short routine showcasing a variety of styles, including some freestyling. No other preparation is required for the audition, however if the students do wish to prepare 30 seconds of a solo dance, we would be delighted to see it. This is not a requirement and is purely optional- just bring the music on an ipod/phone that can be connected with a headphone jack.
The Dance Troupe is a new endeavour within the school and is the very exciting next level that many of our current students have been waiting for.
